In this guest article, Michel De Poortere, secretary general of European Silicones Centre (CES) discusses the journey for industry members to meet the requirements of REACH Phase one. He highlights the significant investment industry has made (€35 m) on research on silicones’ safety and the data-sharing with regulators in the three phases of REACH and elsewhere in the world; he urges companies to invest the right resources to enter the REACH register immediately or they risk having substances taken off the market with no valid reason.
